FABTECH's center of gravity

FABTECH is organized around metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing, with strong coverage of laser and sheet processing, press brakes, stamping, tube and pipe, joining, coatings, job shops, automation and manufacturing AI.

IMTS's center of gravity

IMTS is centered more heavily on machining, machine tools, cutting, tooling, controls, metrology and integrated manufacturing technology. Automation and digital systems cross both events.

Choose by process question

If the immediate issue is cutting and forming sheet, joining, finishing or fabrication flow, FABTECH is the more direct starting point. If it is milling, turning, grinding, EDM or machine-tool systems, IMTS is usually the more direct starting point. Complex shops can benefit from both.

Questions to take to the show

  • Is the core process subtractive machining or fabrication and joining?
  • Which event concentrates the relevant suppliers?
  • Which live demonstration cannot be replaced by remote research?
