Data Sources & Provenance

Last updated September 28, 2026

Evidence has layers. A model specification, observed seller record, asking price and transaction result are different facts. MBB labels and connects them instead of treating them as interchangeable.

Machine catalog and reference sources

MBB compiles model identity and technical context from manufacturer materials, manuals, distributor materials, standards and other public references. Citations and direct links are provided where practical. Model-level material may not describe an exact serial-numbered unit.

Market observations

Public seller-source records retain an MBB-generated identifier, source link, first-observed date, last-checked date, observed-field names and a content fingerprint. The observation ledger makes that provenance inspectable. An observation is not proof of ownership, authority, physical possession, condition, transaction price or continuing availability.

Market record and value definitions

These labels describe different kinds of evidence. They are not interchangeable.

Machine model page

A permanent research page for a normalized manufacturer and model identity. Specifications can vary by year, control, option package and serial-numbered configuration.

Market observation or source record

A dated record of facts displayed by an identified public source when checked. It is evidence of what was observed, not a Machine Blue Book listing or offer.

Active or last observed active

Active means the identified source displayed the machine as available when checked. Last observed active states the date of that check. Neither label guarantees current availability.

Historical record

A source observation retained for research after it is no longer represented as current inventory. A historical record is not an invitation to purchase the machine.

Removed

The source page or listing was no longer available when checked. Removed does not mean sold and will not be presented as a confirmed sale.

Sold

Used only when a seller, auctioneer or other authoritative source confirms the disposition. A closed, expired or removed page alone is not confirmation.

Observed asking price

The advertised amount visible at the cited source on the observation date. It is not a transaction price, appraisal, offer by MBB or proof the machine sold for that amount.

Confirmed sale price

A documented transaction result attributed to an authoritative source when MBB is permitted to publish it. Buyer premiums, taxes, freight and other costs may remain separate.

Estimate or market range

Informational research based on stated observations, assumptions, date windows and limitations. It is not a binding offer, credit decision, insurance opinion or certified appraisal.

Offer

A specific party's proposal to transact under stated terms. Machine Blue Book does not make an offer merely by displaying research, a range or a third-party source record.

Appraisal

A professional opinion prepared for a stated purpose and effective date under the appraiser's scope and standards. Automated MBB research is not a formal appraisal.

Last checked and last verified

Last checked records when MBB revisited a source. Last verified records when a cited fact or source was affirmatively reviewed. The page should state which one applies.

Photos

MBB does not publicly serve local copies of third-party seller-listing photographs on source-record pages in this release. Follow the direct originating source to review current imagery. Manufacturer imagery may be referenced or linked for model identification; ownership is not claimed by MBB.

Primary educational sources

Technology guides favor manufacturer documentation and primary government, standards, safety and event sources such as NIST, OSHA and IMTS for general context. External links do not imply endorsement or affiliation.
