Define three outcomes
Choose three outcomes before opening the directory: a process to understand, a purchase or project to evaluate, and a set of people to meet. Every booth, session and meeting should support at least one of them.
Protect the calendar
Do not schedule every minute. Allow time for the physical size of the venue, demonstration overruns, useful conversations and transit between halls. Put the hardest-to-repeat demonstrations and prearranged meetings first.
Record evidence while it is fresh
Photograph only where permitted, write the booth and product name into every note, and capture assumptions behind performance claims. End each day by sorting follow-up into immediate, research and later categories.
Questions to take to the show
- What are the three outcomes that justify the trip?
- Which demonstrations cannot be evaluated remotely?
- Who owns each follow-up after the show?
Continue the research
Choose lodging around the show plan, verify official housing terms, and account for Las Vegas travel time instead of measuring distance alone.
