Going to IMTS 2026? Here's where to stay and how to get around. The show ran September 14–19, 2026 at McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois, and because IMTS is one of the largest events Chicago hosts, hotel rooms near McCormick Place book up fast — reserve early.
The single best move is to book through official IMTS housing — Global Housing Solutions, powered by AMT, the show's only official housing provider. It contracts ~95 Chicago-area hotels and gives attendees guaranteed rooms at the lowest available show-week rate, no booking fees, no deposit at booking, 24/7 support during the show, and — the big one — free shuttle service between most participating hotels and McCormick Place. Book at imts.com housing, email Housing@IMTS.com, or call 800-957-7714.
For where to base yourself, there are three broad options: right on the McCormick Place campus (connected hotels, walk to the halls), downtown in the Loop / South Loop / Magnificent Mile (more restaurants and nightlife, free IMTS shuttle to the show), or out near the airports (cheapest, longest commute). Most machine buyers who want to maximize floor time stay on or near campus.
Guaranteed rooms, lowest show-week rate, no booking fees, free shuttle, 24/7 support: imts.com housing · Housing@IMTS.com · 800-957-7714. Booking outside official housing can cost more and lose the shuttle.
These skybridge-connected hotels are within walking distance and are the ones not served by shuttle (you don't need it). Rates are best when booked through official IMTS housing.
| On campus — McCormick Square | Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, Marriott Marquis Chicago, Hiltons at McCormick Place — connected by skybridge. Walk to the halls; no shuttle needed. Closest, priciest, books first. |
|---|---|
| South Loop / Downtown / Loop | More hotels, restaurants and nightlife; a short ride or the free IMTS shuttle to the show. Good balance of price and things to do after hours. |
| Near O'Hare (ORD) / Midway (MDW) | Lowest rates and easy arrivals, but a 30–45 min commute. Best if you're price-sensitive or in and out fast. |
| From the airports | O'Hare (ORD) ~20 mi and Midway (MDW) ~10 mi. Rideshare, taxi, or the CTA train downtown then a connection south. |
|---|---|
| Public transit | CTA Green Line to Cermak–McCormick Place, or the Metra Electric District line to the McCormick Place stop. |
| IMTS shuttle | Free between most official-housing hotels and McCormick Place during show week — one of the biggest reasons to book through official housing. |

Book your room the moment you commit — McCormick Place hotels sell out for IMTS. Wear comfortable shoes (the floor is over a million square feet). Plan the halls you need before you arrive (see what to see). And if you're shopping machines, walk the show with real numbers in hand.
Build the daily route with the IMTS 2026 floor plan, then confirm CTA, shuttle and driving options in the parking and transportation guide.
