If you're heading to IMTS 2026 (September 14–19, 2026, McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois) to shop 5-axis & multi-axis machines, here's who to see and what to look for. The big builders run machines live in the Metal Cutting halls, so it's the best place anywhere to compare them side by side in a day.
The 5-axis & multi-axis machines builders you'll typically find on the IMTS floor: DMG Mori, Makino, Mazak, Hermle, Okuma, GROB, and Haas (UMC). Find their exact booths on the official IMTS exhibitor directory & floor plan.
Go straight to the source — these builders' own IMTS 2026 / product pages: DMG Mori · Makino · Mazak · Hermle · Okuma · GROB · Haas. Cross-reference their booths on the official IMTS floor plan.
Note the 5-axis architecture — trunnion table, swivel-head, or table-on-table — and watch a simultaneous 5-axis demo in a tough material if you can. Look at rotary-axis rigidity, high-pressure coolant, and the CAM/collision-avoidance workflow, since those separate a real 5-axis machine from a 3+2 positioning one.
