SIXTEEN SELLER CONTROLS

Do not compare headlines. Compare what reaches you.

A dealer purchase, brokered sale, consignment and auction can each be valid. Know the role, actual work, economics, contract, payment control, custody and expected net before choosing.

ASK EVERY INTERMEDIARY

Show me the complete economics.

  • Are you buying as principal or representing me?
  • Who controls list price, reserve, reductions and final acceptance?
  • What is the commission rate and exact calculation base?
  • What buyer premiums, seller fees, expenses and related-party charges apply?
  • What do I owe if the machine does not sell?
  • What is my estimated seller net at several possible sale prices?
IMPORTANT DISTINCTION

Commission is not dealer resale margin.

An agent or broker may earn disclosed compensation. A dealer buying as principal can earn an unknown later resale spread and assumes different risks. Identify the role, compare the cash offer with alternatives and never blend the two economics.

CONTROL THE FINAL NUMBER

Ask for the settlement before the sale closes.

Require a line-by-line estimate and final reconciliation showing sale price, commission, every fee, every expense, payoff and the exact amount remitted to the seller.

MORE THAN ONE MACHINE?

Sell a complete shop or plan an orderly liquidation.

Separate operating-business value, equipment, tooling, inventory, facility obligations, transaction path and removal before the market defines the package for you.
