Trunnion

What is Trunnion?

A trunnion is a rotary table supported on both ends (like an axle) that tilts and rotates the workpiece — providing two of the axes in a 5-axis machining center. Because it's supported at both ends, a trunnion is rigid and accurate, well suited to smaller parts machined on all sides.

The trunnion typically provides an A-axis (tilt) and C-axis (rotation), letting the tool reach five faces in one setup.
