Canned Cycle

What is Canned Cycle?

A canned cycle is a built-in, single-command routine on the control that performs a common repetitive operation — drilling, peck drilling, tapping, boring — with one line instead of programming every move. It shortens programs and standardizes operations.

Examples include G81 (drill), G83 (peck drill) and G84 (tap). The control expands the cycle into the underlying moves.
