Conversational programming lets an operator answer menu prompts at the machine — pocket here, this deep, this feed — and the control generates the toolpath, so simple parts get running fast with little training. Full G-code (usually from CAM) gives complete control over every move, which complex parts and production optimization require, at the cost of more skill and software.
Most shops use both: conversational for quick shop-floor jobs, CAM-generated G-code for complex or repeat production. See conversational and G-code in the glossary.
