Boring Mill (Horizontal Boring Mill)

What is Boring Mill?

A horizontal boring mill (HBM) is a large machine with a horizontal spindle on a column, built to bore, mill and drill big, heavy workpieces — machine bases, housings, fabrications. A table type moves the part; a floor/planer type moves the machine over a stationary part.

Boring mills are defined by spindle diameter and travels and are central to heavy and large-part manufacturing.
