Bar Capacity

What is Bar Capacity?

Bar capacity is the largest bar-stock diameter that passes through a lathe's spindle bore, setting the biggest part it can produce from bar with a bar feeder. It's a defining spec for production turning and Swiss machines.

A larger bore/bar capacity broadens the part range but usually means a bigger spindle and machine.
