Y-Axis (Y-Axis (Lathe))

What is Y-Axis?

A Y-axis on a turning center lets the live tool move off the part's centerline (up/down across the spindle), enabling true milling of flats, slots and off-center features — not just radial cross-work. It's a key mill-turn capability.

Y-axis plus C-axis and live tooling is what makes a lathe genuinely mill complex parts.
