C-Axis

What is C-Axis?

The C-axis is controlled rotation of a lathe's main spindle to a precise angular position, so live tools can machine features at exact locations around the part — bolt-hole patterns, cross-holes, flats. It turns a turning center into a mill-turn.

Paired with live tooling and a Y-axis, the C-axis unlocks complex, done-in-one turned parts.
