Face Mill

What is Face Mill?

A face mill is a large-diameter milling cutter with replaceable carbide inserts that machines flat surfaces quickly by taking a wide, shallow cut across the face of a part. It's the go-to for facing off stock and producing flat datums.

Because it uses indexable inserts, a nicked edge is rotated or replaced cheaply rather than resharpening the whole tool.
