Collet

What is Collet?

A collet is a slotted, spring-like sleeve that grips a tool shank or bar with even pressure around its whole circumference, giving high concentricity and grip. ER collets are the common tool-side standard; on lathes, collet chucks hold bar stock accurately at high RPM.

Collets run truer and faster than a jaw chuck but hold a narrow size range each.
