Knurling

What is Knurling?

Knurling presses or cuts a textured, cross-hatched or straight pattern into a round part's surface on a lathe to create grip (knobs, handles) or a press-fit. It's a forming/cutting operation done with a knurling tool.

Cut knurling produces cleaner results than the older bump (form) knurling.
