Build a defensible electrical record for a used, relocated, imported or newly purchased machine before facility work begins.
One photograph can prevent a bad facility assumption.
Model brochures often describe a family. Installation depends on the serial-specific configuration, options, internal transformers and manufacturer instructions.
Capture the evidence before relocation.
- Entire machine and model/serial plate
- Main electrical-data and cabinet labels
- Disconnect and power-entry area
- Internal transformer label and current tap setting
- Major motor, spindle drive and regenerative equipment labels
- Every powered accessory and its plate
- Available electrical drawings and installation manual revision
Transcribe the label exactly.
“Amps,” “full-load amps,” “maximum input,” “kVA,” “spindle kW” and “service requirement” are not interchangeable. Preserve the manufacturer's terms and attach each number to its source.
This reference explains terms and arithmetic. It does not size conductors, overcurrent protection, transformers, disconnects, grounding, arc-flash protection or a branch circuit. Use the exact machine documentation, the authority having jurisdiction and qualified electrical professionals. Servicing also requires an applicable hazardous-energy control program.
