The MBB data model.
Six kinds of things, permanent identifiers for each, and the relationships between them. This is what lets one machine be followed from its specifications through its value and every ownership decision, in any language and on any screen.
Entities
What MBB keeps a record of.
| Entity | Identifier | Example | Where it lives | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brand | brand slug | haas | /price-guide/models/haas/ | A manufacturer or brand as it appears on machines and records. |
| Model | MBB model ID (integer, permanent) | 16274 | /machines/model/haas-vf2ss-16274/ | A model group. The ID never changes; a model's value page, records and specifications all point to it. |
| Asking-price record | record ID mbb-r- + 12 hex | mbb-r-35f51de926ba | /machines/products/ | One published asking-price observation: source, date, asking price and the details the source stated. |
| Category | category slug | vertical-machining-center | /machines/category/vertical-machining-center/ | The equipment type a model belongs to. All categories: /machines/categories/. |
| Ownership stage | stage ID | stage:commission | /data/ownership-lifecycle.json | A step in the ownership path, from identifying the machine to selling it, with the question it answers. |
| Provider listing | directory path | /machine-rigging/… | /machine-services/ | A provider path in a directory (rigging, transport, electrical, finance, OEM support, distribution). Listing is not purchased. |
Relationships
How they connect.
- Brand makes Model
- Model belongs to Category
- Asking-price record observes Model
- Model has a value page summarizing Asking-price records
- Ownership stage applies to Model
- Ownership stage links to Guides and provider listings
- Ownership stage precedes the next stage
One machine, several views.
A model can appear on more than one page: its value page (asking-price evidence by year), its model record (identity and the individual observations), its specifications and the lifecycle guides. These are different views of the same model ID, not different machines. The value page is the reference for asking-price summaries; the model record is the reference for identity and individual observations.
