Identify the responsible party
Determine whether coverage comes from the OEM, dealer, broker, third-party administrator or service company. Confirm legal name, contact path, geographic coverage and whether work requires preauthorization.
Map parts and labor
Spindle, control, drives, motors, ballscrews, encoders, probes, rotary equipment, automation and accessories may be treated differently. Separate parts, labor, travel, freight, removal, installation and diagnostic time.
Define the clock
Coverage may begin at invoice, shipment, delivery, installation, acceptance or registration. State the term, operating-hour limits, maintenance conditions, exclusions for relocation or unauthorized repair and the claim deadline.
Understand the remedy
Repair, replacement, credit, refund and capped reimbursement create different risk. Ask what happens when parts are unavailable, the machine is down outside business hours or multiple visits fail to correct the issue.
