Market findings
The September 2026 MBB snapshot contains 126 indexable waterjet records. Of those, 113 carry asking prices inside the published $500-to-$5-million analytical range.
The range describes published asking prices in this category—not completed sales and not the value of a particular machine.
Manufacturer mix and asking prices
Representation affects the category result. A heavily listed manufacturer or model family can pull the combined median toward its particular product and age mix.

| Manufacturer | Listings | Qualified | Q1 | Median | Q3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flow | 63 | 57 | $25,000 | $55,000 | $100,000 |
| Omax | 30 | 26 | $26,238 | $45,000 | $89,875 |
| Calypso | 7 | 6 | $16,250 | $20,000 | $27,425 |
| Wardjet | 4 | 4 | $61,825 | $95,000 | $117,500 |
| A&V | 3 | 3 | $27,500 | $40,000 | $40,000 |
Model concentration
Model-level evidence is more useful than a category-wide average, but identical names can still hide option, control, age and condition differences. These counts show the most repeated normalized model labels in the MBB category snapshot.
| Manufacturer and model | Listings | Qualified | Q1 | Median | Q3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flow Mach 500 | 8 | 7 | $120,000 | $130,000 | $160,000 |
| Flow Mach 200 4020 | 6 | 6 | $80,000 | $102,500 | $125,000 |
| Omax Maxiem 1530 | 6 | 6 | $45,000 | $69,450 | $79,725 |
| Flow 7121271 | 4 | 4 | $22,500 | $25,000 | $37,500 |
| Flow Mach 2 | 4 | 3 | $25,000 | $25,000 | $32,500 |
| Flow Ifb6012 | 3 | 3 | $12,500 | $17,000 | $24,500 |
| Flow M21313B | 3 | 3 | $23,750 | $35,000 | $37,500 |
| Flow Mach 100 | 3 | 2 | $79,000 | $86,000 | $93,000 |
| Omax 55100 | 3 | 2 | $17,500 | $20,000 | $22,500 |
| Omax 60120 | 3 | 3 | $35,000 | $45,000 | $72,500 |
| Omax Maxiem1530 | 3 | 2 | $70,750 | $77,000 | $83,250 |
| A&V 1006Ba | 2 | 2 | $21,250 | $27,500 | $33,750 |
Model labels are normalized catalog fields. Confirm the serial number, exact configuration and manufacturer specification before using a model comparison.
Machine age and asking-price spread
Age organizes the search, but it does not replace configuration and condition evidence. The table separates inventory and price ranges by broad production-year band.

| Production-year band | Listings | Qualified | Q1 | Median | Q3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Before 2000 | 0 | 0 | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| 2000-2009 | 33 | 32 | $15,000 | $22,250 | $30,500 |
| 2010-2019 | 65 | 57 | $25,000 | $45,000 | $85,000 |
| 2020-2026 | 28 | 24 | $79,725 | $100,000 | $126,250 |
| Year Not Usable | 0 | 0 | $0 | $0 | $0 |
What this equipment does
Waterjet systems use a high-pressure water stream to cut material; abrasive waterjet adds abrasive media to cut a broader range of hard materials. Pump technology, pressure, cutting head, table, abrasive delivery and motion control operate as one process system.
A used waterjet's apparent machine price can omit expensive support systems. Pump rebuild condition, intensifier or direct-drive design, cutting heads, abrasive management, catcher tank, water quality, sludge removal, control and software all affect the production-ready outcome.
That operating context is essential: an asking-price comparison is strongest when the candidate machines can perform the same work with comparable process capability, capacity and support.
What changes value
No single depreciation curve captures the working differences within this category. Document these factors before comparing the candidate to the published range:
- Pump type, rated pressure, horsepower, hours, rebuild history and documented operating condition
- Table size, usable cutting envelope, catcher-tank condition, slats and material capacity
- Number and type of cutting heads, taper compensation, height sensing and multi-axis capability
- Abrasive hopper and feed, bulk transfer, water treatment, cooling, filtration and sludge removal
- Control, nesting and programming software, license transfer and process-parameter support
- Seals, check valves, tubing, fittings, orifices, mixing tubes, motion components and cut evidence
Buyer inspection questions
- Confirm pump type, pressure and horsepower; review pump hours, rebuilds, leaks and maintenance history.
- Run representative cuts and inspect speed, edge, taper, repeatability and pressure stability.
- Inspect high-pressure lines, fittings, cutting heads, orifices, mixing tubes and abrasive delivery.
- Check table, slats, catcher tank, corrosion, water level, sludge system and material-handling access.
- Verify water-quality requirements, cooling, filtration, software licenses, nesting and control operation.
- Price abrasive handling, water treatment, sludge disposal, noise control, utilities and commissioning.
Scope boundary: this is an educational framework, not a substitute for an OEM, technician, rigger, electrician, environmental professional, safety professional, attorney or other qualified adviser appropriate to the transaction.
Seller evidence package
Document the complete waterjet package: pump type, pressure, hours and rebuilds; table and tank; heads; abrasive system; water treatment; cooling; filtration; sludge equipment; control and software. A current cut and pressure demonstration is more useful than a control-screen photograph.
Define inspection access, deposits, payment timing, loading, removal deadline, risk transfer and the parties responsible for each cost in the written agreement. Buyers and sellers should obtain appropriate professional advice for their facts.
Production readiness and safety
Plan for the machine, pump, abrasive storage, material handling and sludge removal. Verify floor loading, drainage and water management, electrical service, compressed air, incoming water quality, cooling, noise, spent abrasive and wastewater handling, permits and qualified installation for the specific site.
High-pressure water can cause severe injury. Abrasive, flying material, automatic motion, noise and stored pressure require process-specific controls. OSHA resources address machine guarding and occupational noise; manufacturer procedures and qualified high-pressure-system review remain essential.
Methods, limits and download
MBB filtered the September 25, 2026 catalog snapshot to indexable records whose normalized category equals “Waterjet.” Price statistics include numeric asking prices from $500 through $5 million. The median is the 50th percentile; Q1 and Q3 mark the middle half of retained prices.
The records are not a probability sample of all machines. Source mix, omitted prices, stale listings, duplicate commercial exposure and incomplete machine facts can bias the result. Public aggregate downloads omit personal information, private records and row-level third-party listing data.
