A machine can arrive on time and still sit idle. Tool interfaces, holders, workholding, probes, gauges, programs, postprocessors, spares and consumables determine when it can make the intended part.

Start with interfaces
Confirm spindle taper, retention knob, coolant delivery, tool length and diameter limits, turret or gang arrangement, chuck or collet interface, rotary mounting, probe compatibility and control options. Model family alone may not establish the installed configuration.
Build the first-part package
List cutters, holders, inserts, collets, jaws, fixtures, vises, pallets, gauges, probes, coolant, chip handling, program transfer and postprocessor requirements for the first representative job.
Separate included from transferable
Seller-owned tooling, leased systems, licensed software, customer fixtures and machine-specific hardware can have different rights. Put serials, quantities, condition and transfer terms into the purchase record.
Plan support inventory
Critical spares depend on lead time and failure consequence. Batteries, filters, belts, probes, sensors, lubrication components, drives and boards may require OEM or authorized support. Balance availability with shelf life and obsolescence.
