Broaching pushes or pulls a toothed tool (a broach) through or across a part, with each tooth cutting slightly deeper, to produce a shape in one pass — internal keyways, splines, square/hex holes, and external forms. It's fast and repeatable for high volumes.
Rotary broaching ('wobble broaching') makes small polygon forms right on a mill or lathe.
