One move may cross
several road owners.
An FDOT permit covers the authority stated on the permit. County roads, city streets, local toll roads, ports and private facilities may require separate permission or operating conditions.
Start with the controlling facts.
This guide organizes official sources and machine-specific questions. It is not a permit, route approval, engineering analysis or legal opinion.
Map the authority handoffs
- Identify every road from pickup property to delivery property, not only the interstate segment.
- Mark county, municipal, toll, port, bridge and private-facility boundaries.
- Confirm who issues each approval and whether the state route can legally connect to the local approach.
- Document gates, curbs, overhead lines, railroad crossings, turning radii and temporary obstructions near the facility.
Do not confuse permit systems
- FDOT One Stop Permitting covers other FDOT permits, not every local road authorization.
- IRP, IFTA, registration and fuel permits are distinct from oversize or overweight authority.
- A port appointment or terminal approval is not a roadway oversize permit.
- A state permit does not grant permission to enter private property or obstruct a public street for unloading.
Turn the facts into a controlled move.
Every handoff should have a named owner, a source document and a stop-work condition.
Trace the full route
Start at the exact loading position and end at the exact machine foundation or staging point.
Label each jurisdiction
Assign state, county, city, toll, port, rail and private segments.
Obtain each approval
Confirm current permit, access, traffic-control and appointment requirements directly.
Plan the last mile
Survey turns, grades, curbs, wires, doors, slab transitions and on-site staging.
Verify the current rule at the source.
Dates, route restrictions, bridge conditions and permit procedures can change. Use the current official material for the actual movement.
Machine Blue Book does not issue permits, calculate a legal route, certify a carrier or decide whether a load is divisible. The applicant, carrier and governing authorities control those determinations.
